Our 2011 Vacation!

We just wrapped up our 2011 vacation in Washington, DC. We first stopped in Baltimore to catch an Orioles game at Camden Yards, then we headed to DC to tour all the major sites. There are too many pictures to post so I created a slideshow just like our previous vacation. We had a really fun time even though the heat was almost unbearable...at least for me. I plan to remain in air conditioned locations for the rest of the summer.

Weeks of Excitement

First, I'd like to tell all 3 of our readers that I'm sorry that this post is so long in coming. I'm sure everyone is biting their nails waiting for the next post. Well - here it is.

The first major event that happened since I blogged, is Easter. Nathan is amazing at egg hunting. He found all 12 of them with no problems. And this year, he was much gentler with handling the eggs which is great since they were all real.

Here he is with his Easter basket on Easter morning. The Easter Bunny brought a soccer/hockey/lacrosse set that Mommy and Daddy have had the honor of playing with each day since Easter.

The next thing that occurred in our super fun world was Mother's Day. I had a great day that started with a delicious Jersey diner breakfast.

Then we spent the afternoon chalking out in the driveway.

Look at what Nathan quickly drew up! We know where his loyalties are...We also started a very important project on Mother's Day weekend. We are converting the spare bedroom to Nathan's new Big Boy bedroom. He is already loving his new bed. Randy is doing a great job so far at painting the room. More pictures of the transformation to come.

We are obviously moving Nathan in his new room to make way for our 2nd amazing little boy. He doesn't have an official name yet, but I promise we'll have one before he arrives in September. Nathan talks about his "little brutter" every day and can't wait to play with him. He has also decided to share 2 of his 17,000 toys that he has with the baby. Isn't that generous of the "big brutter"?

To go along with the big boy theme, we decided it was time to get Nathan to his first dentist appointment. The first part went well...until the dentist actually wanted him to open his mouth. I won't go into detail about the 10 minute exam, but let's just say it involved restraints, tears, and screaming. Thank goodness we only have to go every 6 months. After the appointment was over, Nathan was so proud of himself that he told everyone at school that day that he went to the dentist. I'm glad his recollection of the event is not quite reality... The one thing that did come of the appointment was the dentist's recommendation to get Nathan to stop thumb sucking. I asked what we should use to get him to stop, and he said "Just talk to him about it and convince him he doesn't want to do it". Ha - I thought to myself. Logic on a 2 year old? No way would that work. But sure enough, we had a short conversation about it that evening and hasn't sucked his thumb since. It has been great.

Here is a picture of Nathan and Grammy during one of her visits.

So that's an update on us. I'll try to be more regular with my postings.
